About Us!
The Heart of Columbia Chorus is a prospective
chapter of Sweet Adelines International.
We are a group of female singers who began
rehearsing in September 2007. The membership is a diverse group of women from many walks of life. We have career women, retired women, students, stay at home moms and grandmothers. Our ages span seven decades. Music is our common bond.
A capella four part harmony in the barbershop
style is what we do.
Sweet Adelines International, our parent organization, began in 1945 when a small group of women got together to sing four part harmony. Today the organization has grown to 27,000 women world wide.
We sing under the direction of Tina Kneisler.
Tina is a Certified Director in Sweet Adelines and came to us from the Baton Rouge and New Orleans choruses where she directed for many years.
The goal of Heart of Columbia Chorus is to sing well (always improving through music education), perform often, and have fun. We are working towards charter and plan to compete in 2009 or 2010 as a member of Region 14 of Sweet Adelines International.
It is our sincere desire to serve our community while sharing our love of music.
